In-Character Information

Name: Acacia (Blue’s Sandslash)
Game/Series: Pokemon
Teacher/Student/Other: Student
Canon Point: Uh… none? Pokemon Blue, maybe?
Age: 22
Grade Level/Class Taught/Job: College Senior
Dorm or Living Arrangement: Dorm

Personality:

Out of Blue’s family, Acacia can be seen as the naughty child with a lot of sass. Being of a sassy nature, she is exactly as the word itself is defined: lively, bold, cheeky, and full of spirit. If there’s a party, she’ll be at the center of it. Something on her mind? She’ll openly express it. Got some fun ideas? Count her in. Acacia will gladly partake in anything she deems enjoyable. What might be some of these things you ask? Well….

Teasing. Lots and lots of teasing. Flustering the innocent and watching people blossom with the red of embarrassment is about as addicting as crack cocaine to Acacia. She loves to see what makes people tick, and what makes them react in many different ways. In a sense, she conducts social experiments on people in order to get to know them extremely well. She likes the human mind and how it works. This being the case, Psychology and Sociology could easily be her favorite subjects in school.

However, she knows well enough not to involve herself with certain sets of individuals. Cynical evils and quiet sleeping dragons with testy personalities would be naming a few. They’re absolutely no fun to mess around with and she doesn’t want muck up trouble with those sorts.

Gossip and obtaining juicy information are also on high on the list of things Acacia enjoys. She doesn’t spread baseless rumors and nonsensically gossip, but she does find them mildly entertaining to listen to. If there is a good reason to speak of false things, that’ll be the only time in which she does it. Things which protect her family and their reputation would be a few of the reasons to do so – apart from her own self-interests. Having certain information can wield great advantages, and Acacia understands this. Ultimately, it’s what inspires a lot of her scheming to either prank people or play around with them (in a friendly and lighthearted, but not hurtful, manner). After all, Sandslashes are known to hide in trees waiting to ambush their prey. Sandshrews hide in the ground, waiting to drag their prey in. These traits attribute to her personality as she loves to find ways to catch people off-guard and wrap them around her manicured slim fingers.

Similar to Jock, Acacia is very vain and has a massive appreciation for all things aesthetically pleasing. She is greatly into fashion and now that she has a human form, will indulge herself (and Blue) in all the latest trends. Given the chance, she’d love to learn how to become a stylist or a beautician because nothing would make her happier than to make everyone in the world prettier or handsomer. For now, she’ll settle for giving makeovers to whoever she can get her hands on. Perhaps when she graduates, she’ll pursue work in that field. For now, she’ll enjoy her time as a fashionable young woman.

With her grand love for all things beautiful, Acacia loves everything about herself. She’s very confident and takes special care of her appearance. Mess with her hair and she might claw your face with her pretty, shiny nails. However, as much as Acacia loves herself, she loves Blue more and finds her to be the prettiest and fairest of them all.

Without a doubt, Acacia loves her family and views herself as “the second eldest sister” with Sienna being the first. She is very overprotective of them and proud of each and every member. Though she may be a bit of a bully towards a few of them, she means well and is usually giving them “tough love” to nurture them in her own way. She also does it to keep them in check, especially since certain canines within the family tend to exhibit reckless behavior.

Acacia loves personal contact – granted she has to like the person she’s making contact with. Particularly with the people she likes to play with, she’ll get up close and personal. Living as a sandslash, she had to restrain herself or be careful of how she came into contact with others. (It wouldn’t do to poke a person full of holes with her quills or jab them with her claws.) So now that she is a human, she intends to fully enjoy the human figure and the figures of others. Most of the time, she’s simply an affectionate creature. Other times, she likes to burst the bubble of personal space simply for the heck of it and to gauge reactions.

Acacia is very sturdy. Being of a sassy nature, her defense stats are high with her strength above average. Since she’s out always looking for fun, she enjoys battles and a good spar. Keeping a big ol’ mutt in track takes a lot, and she’s got what it takes. She’s confident in her abilities, but is never distastefully boastful. She’ll admit she’s good, but that’s as far as it goes. Bragging hardly ever seemed attractive to the sandslash.

One thing to note is that when Acacia gets mad, she gets awfully mad. Of course, the situation affects the extent of her anger, but it is still something no one would want to come across. If she dislikes a person, she makes no attempts to hide it. In fact, she’s very frank about how she feels about others and it can be easily seen through her body language and interactions. If she hurts someone emotionally on accident, then she’ll apologize. If she does it intentionally, that’s your own fault. Or so she’d like to argue.

Revisions: Negative traits and Character flaws
Acacia can get aggressive when upset or annoyed and she’ll have a tendency to make a lot of threats; most of which she won’t hesitate to follow through. Towards her family, she’d hold back punches and refrain from doing anything to cause lasting damage. With the exception of Blue (she would never hurt Blue), she won’t be afraid to opt for pinching noses, pulling hair and ears, and downright wrestling with her siblings. Towards outsiders, she’ll resort to violence only when insulted or in danger. She has a temper and can get annoyed very easily when things don’t go her way.

The sandslash hasn’t been known to be very forgiving unless properly apologized to. She can hold grudges and be disagreeable towards people she dislikes - hostile, even. A lot of the time, Acacia believes herself to be in the right. She may not have the best methods, but the ends justify the means in her mind. She also has a lot of pride and believes herself to be smart, which can lead to her butting heads with others and seeing herself above others.

Because of how much Acacia dotes and loves Blue, whenever Acacia does something wrong and gets scolded, she takes it hard and sulks. In spite of her personality, she wants to be a good child to Blue. Upsetting Blue feels like failure on her part and if she acknowledges that it's her fault, she'll go reflect back on her actions. If she thinks it's someone else's fault, she'll give them grief in passing without Blue knowing. When Acacia doesn't agree with Blue, she'll initially resist a little, but in the end, she gives in. Her love for Blue is borderline a complex, if not already so, and she always, always listens to Blue and follows her commands. She may complain and try to talk her way out of it, but she’ll always do as her trainer asks.

Acacia can be very selfish, but from her time with Blue, she’s learned to share (begrudgingly) with her family and, occasionally, her friends. She wants things for herself and is an attention seeker. Regarding her very personal belongings, she may not be so willing to share. Things like her jewelry and nail polish, she’ll be very particular about sharing if it’s not for Blue. She takes very good care of her belongings, so she’ll be very strict about the state of her things if she doesn’t trust the person borrowing her stuff – if she even lets them borrow it at all.

With her teasing, she can and will cross the line. But, she isn’t the nasty sort to make comments to be horribly hurtful or insulting (unless if she absolutely hates a person then they will be). Her jokes and playfulness lean more on the side of dirty humor and inappropriate remarks. She won’t make a person want to die of shame because they’re useless or weak, but she may make them want to die of embarrassment if they’re a prude. She does things all in good fun, but may occasionally over do it when she’s having too much fun and misses out on cues to quit. However, she does like to stick her nose in where it doesn't belong, so she still needs to learn boundaries and to stay out of other’s businesses. She’s just a very curious creature who wants to know everything and comment on everything. She must have the last word.

Backstory:

Before Blue, Acacia was simply a little sandshrew living within the caves of Mt. Moon. And all that it was, was just dirt, dirt, and some more dirt. Rocks, caves, and complete darkness too. But still, dirt. Every day was a repetitive bore with nothing new to look at. Nothing pretty to look at. Acacia would just wander the caves, mingle with the other cavemons, and basically do nothing productive.

UNTIL ONE DAY, A BRIGHT FLASH ILLUMINATED THE CAVE AND THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GODDESS APPEARED WITH HER WONDERFUL, SILKY HAZEL HAIR AND MAGICAL SMILE. And her questionably fashionable bucket hat.

That is her. SHE IS THE ONE. The one Acacia determined she was fated to devote her love, life and attention to! This goddess must become her trainer! Acacia would have none other. Nope. Never. It had to be this angel with the bucket hat or stalking her for life as a wild thang.

Now was the time to battle! There was no time to wait, so Acacia appeared in all her glory and challenged the bucket hat angel and her fire-breathing lizard-dragon. She could handle fire. She could take on this lizard--oooh wait. The thrill of battle was getting Acacia a little over her head. The aim was to get caught, but. Well. She couldn’t very well join a team with weak members, so… time to test whether lizard-breath was worthy of being by this gorgeous angel’s side!

…Many scratches, incoherent noise making, and flaming breaths later, the fire lizard was deemed worthy. Acacia had been weakened enough for The One to capture. The PokeBall came. It took her in. It was done…

WOO. She belongs to The One now! TIME FOR A HAPPY DANCE. HURRAH. HU--HUUUH?!

How the hell did she get out of the ball?! Oh, what the rock? Did she just accidentally break out of the PokeBall?! God. Damn. Frick. Shit. And every curse in the book.

No, Goddess. Please don’t leave. Acacia’s terribly sorry for breaking the ball. She’ll go beat up a bug boy to reimburse you. Really, she will. Baaaw.

Determined not to let this once-in-a-lifetime chance and the master of her life exit her life, Acacia stealthily followed the beauty around to see what she would do. Maybe there was still hope of making a comeback with a grand enticing entrance. But then… was that. Another. Sandshrew. Coming. Towards. Her. Beloved?

AW, HELL NO. THE GODDESS IS HERS. With the might of the heavens, Acacia rolled down the cliff from which she was spying on The One and knocked out the heretic before her beloved could see it. She did this several times. Many times, actually. And just… Why were all these sandshrews coming out?! It’s like they were trying to get in the way of her one true trainer! Get away! Get out! GET. OUT…

…of the cave? Huh? When did she land outside the cave? Holy magikarps! She had been so focused on taking out all the competition she didn’t realize she was out of Mt. Moon already! With a couple of extra levels under her pelt to boot! And where was her beloved?

With a… Clefairy. She caught a Clefairy. Called her Aralia… what a pretty name. But WHAT THE FARFETCH’D. NO. GOD DAMNIT. ACACIA WAS GONNA GET HERSELF CAUGHT NO MATTER WHAT. SHE WANTED A PRETTY NAME TOO.

Time to stalk The One to Route 4.

Beat the snot out of that Clefairy. Hah.

Got beat by lizard-dragon again. Meh. She can take one to be enslaved by her beloved.

Meditated upon capture. No dancing ‘til the ball stops swaying. And…

YUSSSSSSSS. Finally. HERS.

And that is the story of how Acacia joined Blue and her team. TECHNICALLY, Acacia saw Blue before Aralia (Clefairy), so she’s second, but she just lets Aralia think she’s second. From that point on, Acacia stayed very close to Blue and worked her hardest to win her battles. Evolved when Blue OK’d it. Got to see the world and became strong! There was no more of that darkness and dirt of Mt. Moon, but plenty to enjoy! So many adventures. And she loved every single one of them. She loved Blue, especially, for gracing her with her wonderful presence. If not for her, she would have probably died of boredom in that dinky cave.

Blue was everything Acacia imagined her to be. Everything she could have asked for in a trainer. Not only was she unimaginably beautiful on the outside, she was even more glamorous on the inside. She was strong, but so very kind and loving. It was like a dream to be under her care and be able to care for her in return. She was truly a goddess.

Revisions: Acacia's development with the team
When Acacia first joined the team, she was very haughty and overconfident about her abilities. She also wanted Blue’s attention all for herself and would push aside Aralia. She didn’t hold much respect for the Clefairy. Aralia was of a timid nature and Acacia felt only headstrong people should be in the company of Blue. She accepted Sienna for her strength, considered her a worthy rival, but Aralia? Far from it. Acacia would actually bully her and saw her as weak. And weak members couldn’t protect Blue so they were unnecessary in her eyes.

However, she never imagined Blue would scold her for her behavior and mentality, so upsetting Blue came as a shock. She didn’t want to trouble or disappoint her trainer so it was a harsh blow to her ego to learn that she was in the wrong. Under Blue’s guidance, she learned – painstakingly slowly – to care for her teammates and to be a team player.

Acacia had spent her life alone and independent, but with Blue, she gained a family. It took time for her to realize she wasn’t on her own anymore and that there were others relying on her. What she did would actually affect others. There were consequences and she had to learn to be mindful. Blue was at the center of her universe but alongside her came brothers and sisters. Acacia’s own family was aloof and distant in the caves, so they never interacted much, but with Blue’s family? Suddenly there was color and fun in life. Life wasn’t a boring passing of days anymore.

Blue treasured her family. Acacia saw this and was affected by the love and leadership Blue had. At first, Acacia felt threatened by the additional members of her team. If there were too many members, she feared losing Blue's attention and love. But her fear was never realized. Instead, she saw that Blue's love was endless. She had enough love for them all, if not more. And she loved them all the same, none better than the other. It was the turning point in Acacia's development.

If Blue loved everybody, then Acacia would try and love everybody too. This way, Blue would be happy and if Blue is happy, Acacia is happy. Acacia would protect everybody. Each member had their eccentricities, but they all accepted one another. They accepted her and Acacia realized she was in the wrong to ever look down on any one of them and treat them poorly. To do so would be rude towards Blue who chose those very members to join their family. From there, her sisterly instincts materialized. She accepted everyone, even Aralia, and began to treat them better. Blue played a positive role and influence in Acacia’s life. Though Acacia is still selfish in many ways, she’s learned to care in a grand many other ways.

Soon, Acacia took it upon her to watch out for the group. With a family she could be proud of, and a trainer to be even more proud of, she made sure to keep them safe and in line. Even at Smash Academy, Acacia remained affectionate of her trainer and would come out of her ball to stretch her legs and check up on the state of things.

But eventually that got boring. Just look at all the fun everyone else was having on campus as students and teachers and whatnot! Especially Jock! Blake had come out, too, at one point to do the human thing, so why shouldn’t Acacia? She had been lazy long enough. It was time to join in on the fun and games. Plus, she could keep a closer eye on her younger brother. With what happened during shadow clones, Acacia felt the greater need to watch over him. She wasn’t about to put herself through another scenario of killing Jock look-a-likes. The first time was hard enough. It made her cry.

AND ALSO. She heard the culprit came back as a ghost recently and HELL if she’s going to let him get roam around the school without her around 24/7 to protect her family. Just hell to the no. He’ll get his just desserts. She’ll see to it.

But in the meantime, she’s going to enjoy being able to speak the same language as Blue. All the teasing talking they’ll be able to do! She’ll be able to dress Blue up, do her hair, and tease give her a proper hug and cuddle! A whole universe of possibilities just opened up for this Sandslash, and she’s going to enjoy every single one of them.

Time to leave the ball and have a ball.

Character Relations:

Jock
As much as she tends to not play nice with him, Acacia loves him a lot. She is the exact representation of a big sister that says, “Only I can say mean things to him and be mean. You can’t. So watch your mouth.” In spite of her great appreciation for aesthetically pleasing things, Jock’s fur is actually not what she loves most about the pup. It’s his pure innocence, love, and devotion to Blue and their family that she treasures most about him. She thinks his love for others is very beautiful. Thus, she’s greatly protective of her baby brother, even if she appears to beat on him a little.

The incident with Shadow Jock, with how she had to deal the finishing move and watch a replica of her brother explode…. affected her very deeply. She never blamed Jock. She might get on his case about putting strange balls and things in his mouth from time-to-time, but she knew without seeing him bawl his eyes out to Blue how much it hurt the pup. Heck, he cried so much that when he saw her at the PokeCenter, she could practically see the salt from his tears crystallize all over his face. You could fill a salt-shaker with all that.

Ew. But anyways.

Though she would rather die than tell a soul, the incident left her crying in her Pokeball for three days and nights. Therefore, even if Jock says he doesn’t need anyone watching over him, Acacia always tries to keep a watchful eye on her baby brother. She can never shake off the feeling and memory of the Jock look-a-like cry before dying. She’d do anything to prevent that from ever happening again.

It goes without saying that, given any opportunity, she’d tear Warren’s throat out. Acacia abhors him for being the cause behind the whole horrid event. Hurting Blue…. Hurting Jock. Acacia will never forgive Warren for these things. She’ll be keeping a watchful eye on this ghost.

In-Character 1st person sample:
Here are samples from the DR!

Hello Smashers! Acacia here! Who knows something fun we can do around here? Let's have a get together or something. Anything! Spring's just right around the corner, and I've got spring fever. No more staying indoors because of the cold. Let's go out!

And, yes, Jock. That means I'll play Catch with you. I'll even buy you a new ball. How about it?

While we're at it, how about some shopping Blue? It's the perfect time of year to get some new clothes. Like, enough to replace your current set in the closet. We can certainly get you dressed to impress a certain color! Yeah? Yeah. Let's do it. It's settled. No 'buts' or 'ifs' or 'whats'. We're going. I’m coming to pick you up in about five.

In-Character 3rd person sample:

I’m bored.

Acacia yawned, stretching her arms up from her seat up high within a tree. It was one of those lazy days where she didn’t quite feel like socializing. Or making the effort to. These moments were incredibly rare and very uncommon. Blue was busy doing her thing, so Acacia didn’t want to bother her. Jock was being Jock, sweating and all about the muscles after that powerlifting competition. So what if Vinnie practically smashed the record of the squatting universe? Or bench presses? Or whatever muscle thing it was. There was no reason to get all sulky and down about it. The last thing she wanted was an overly bulky little brother with no neck.

Yuck.

He’d look like a men’s bathroom sign, where the man is depicted as a circle on top of an upside-down triangle….

OH HER BELOVED BLUE, SHE HAD TO STOP THIS.

Jock. Jock you stop your nonsense right now. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL ALREADY. She’s coming to the weight room!
